About the imprint

A quiet place for the things we kept inside.

Untold is an anonymous reading room for first-person stories. There are no profiles to build, no followers to collect and no numbers under your name. You read, or you write, and then you close the tab.

01What this is

Untold is the editorial imprint of Confessit. Confessit is a fast, public, social place. Untold is the opposite instinct: a slow surface with a narrow column, long pieces and nothing that asks you to perform.

Stories are published as complete pieces, not as a feed. Each one is read on its own page, with no recommendation treadmill underneath it. When you finish a story you reach the end of it — there is no infinite scroll waiting to replace what you just read.

02How anonymity actually works

You are not asked for a name, an email address or a password. What identifies you to the server is a device identity: a short, hashed fingerprint that the browser sends once and the backend stores as an opaque, server-side identifier.

That identifier is never shown to readers, and the byline on a story is a generated alias — Anonymous Quiet Stag, and so on — derived from that identifier so a writer keeps a consistent signature without ever being named. We do not display device hashes, fingerprint values or IP addresses anywhere on this site.

Anonymity to readers is not the same as anonymity to the platform. If a story breaks the law or threatens a person, the audit trail exists so that a lawful request can be answered. That trade is described plainly in the privacy policy rather than implied here.

03Who can write

Right now no account is needed. Reading, writing, drafting and publishing all work from the browser you are in — that is the default for this surface and the reason it exists. The setting is not a secret; it is an operator decision published live in the reader configuration, and it can change. If it changes while you are holding a draft, the draft stays yours and the writer explains what is needed before it can go out.

04What happens between submit and publish

Every submission lands in an editorial queue and is read by a person before it can appear. Nothing is published automatically. Either way, content that has no business being public — a threat, a private individual's identifying details, someone else's unpublished writing — is stopped before publication, not after a report.

Reports from readers go to the same queue. The guidelines describe what gets removed and what happens to the person who posted it.

05What we deliberately do not have

  • No follower counts, likes, or claps. There is nothing to farm.
  • No public profiles and no author pages to maintain.
  • No algorithmic feed ranking. The shelf is chronological.
  • No reading analytics told back to you as a number to beat. Your font size and column width are saved on your device, not tracked.
  • No advertising, and no third-party analytics on this reader. The one external script is the human check on write forms.

The shelf is empty at this moment. That is a real state, not a placeholder: nothing is ever generated to fill it.

06Who runs this

Untold is operated alongside Confessit as an independent editorial surface. Moderation decisions are made by the editorial team, and every decision is recorded. There is no advertising relationship behind any piece published here, and no sponsored story.
