Terms of use

An agreement short enough to actually read.

You keep the copyright in what you write. You give us permission to publish it here. You agree not to use this place to harm anyone. Everything below is that, with the edges defined.

Last updated 31 October 2026

01Who you are agreeing with

Untold is operated as the editorial imprint of Confessit. Using this site means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, reading is still possible — but do not submit writing.

02Your writing stays yours

You keep full copyright in everything you submit. We claim no ownership of it.

By publishing a story you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, display it on this site, and include it in the public index and sitemap so search engines can find it. That licence ends when the story is removed — except for copies already cached by search engines or archivers, which are outside our control.

You may ask for a story to be taken down at any time and we will remove it. You may also publish the same piece elsewhere; the licence is non-exclusive.

03Your promises about what you submit

When you submit, you confirm that:

  • the writing is yours, and not copied from someone else;
  • you have not included another person's private information in a form that exposes them;
  • the piece is not defamatory and does not threaten anyone;
  • you are old enough to agree to these terms, and to consent to publication.

These are the same confirmations the submit form asks for. They are recorded at submission time, which is why the form will not let you submit without ticking them.

04What we may do with a submission

We may publish it, hold it, ask you to change something, decline it, or remove it after publication. We do not rewrite your words. Removal does not transfer any right to us.

We may also remove content without notice where it breaks the guidelines, and we may suspend the ability to write from a device that repeatedly breaks them.

05Your conduct

Do not attempt to identify another writer, do not scrape this site to build a profile of its readers, do not attempt to bypass rate limits or the human check, and do not use the service to break the law.

Reading is free. Automated bulk collection of stories is not: the content is licensed for reading on this site, not for republishing elsewhere.

06No warranty, and the limit of our responsibility

This service is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and correct, and we do not promise it will always be either. Stories are written by anonymous people; we do not verify every factual claim in them, and publishing a piece is not an endorsement of its contents.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from your use of the site, and our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us, which for this reader is nothing.

07Ending your access

You can stop using the site at any time, withdraw your drafts, and ask for your published pieces to be removed. We can end the ability to write from a device where the guidelines are broken. Reading remains open in either case.

08Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka. If a clause is unenforceable, the rest stands.

We may update these terms. The date at the top moves when we do, and material changes are noted in the legal hub. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.
